So said Ofsted after inspectors visited the school in February 2008. The full inspection report described every aspect of boarding provision at Talbot Heath, including pastoral care, as ‘outstanding.’ Helping children make a positive contribution, achieve well and enjoy what they do and ensure they are safe and healthy were all given top marks. Meanwhile, the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) in its latest report on the quality of boarding education provided by Talbot Heath was equally complimentary. Its report, published in June 2007, said: “In line with the school’s aims, boarding fosters independence and self-reliance, offering pupils the experience of forming friendships between different year groups. “The boarding pupils constitute a close and coherent community; they develop a high degree of self-confidence, which enables them to enjoy the challenges of school life.”
Talbot Heath’s purpose built boarding houses are situated on the school campus, in St Mary's House. The surroundings are comfortable, with younger boarders occupying bright, spacious dormitories and older girls residing in single study bedrooms. Ample facilities for recreation, study and leisure are available to all. All boarders share in privileges and responsibilities appropriate to their age, and enjoy a high level of pastoral care by qualified house staff. Full or weekly boarding options are available, and provision may be made for day girls on a flexible or occasional basis to meet the particular needs of the family.
