Angharad Holloway (pictured) is only the seventh head in the school’s 123-year history and will take up her new position in September 2010. She succeeds Christine Dipple who is taking early retirement at the end of the current academic year (July 2010) after 19 years in the role. Mrs Holloway, 39, is currently Director of the International Baccalaureate Programme at the Royal High School Bath. She graduated with a BA in German and Italian from St Anne’s College, Oxford, in 1992 and took up her first teaching post, as a German teacher, the following year at Sir William Perkins’s School in Chertsey, Surrey. In 1998 she was appointed Head of German at Clifton High School in Bristol before moving to the Royal High School Bath as Head of Modern Languages three years later. Mrs Holloway, who is married with two daughters aged three and seven, was promoted to her current post in 2008. Simon Tong, Talbot Heath’s Chairman of Governors, said Mrs Holloway had been appointed from a “very strong” field of candidates. He added: “We believe Mrs Holloway will be a very worthy successor to Christine Dipple and look forward to welcoming her, and her family, to Talbot Heath.” Mrs Holloway said: “I am thrilled to have been appointed Head of Talbot Heath. It will be a privilege to lead such an outstanding school.”
