Art students take part in DAMSET project Print E-mail

Ben Trill, a graphic designer and lecturer at the Arts University at Bournemouth, visited us between 2006-8, and offered after school workshops to girls interested in Art from Years 9-12. This project was funded by DAMSET, Dorset AIDS Memorial Schools Educational Trust.

The aim of this workshop was to create a poignant  image to commemorate the death of  someone who had died from AIDS, and to encourage an awareness of the threat of HIV in Dorset. These images were made into tiles, which will eventually cover a large, purpose-built memorial wall in the centre of Bournemouth.

A plaque to commemorate the commencement of work is being unveiled, by the Mayor of Bournemouth, at the site on 17 December.

The tiles can be viewed on the DAMSET website www.damset.co.uk
