Audience moved to tears by musical Print E-mail

Sound of MusicAudiences were moved to tears by powerful cast performances in The Sound of Music at Talbot Heath School.

About 550 people saw the musical which was staged over three performances with the two evening shows packed to capacity. The 40-strong cast was made up of students aged 11 to 18.

Andrew Hill, Director of Music, said the “outstanding success” of the production was largely due to the dedication, talent and enthusiasm of the cast.

He added: “The quality of singing was particularly high. Many people commented on the beautiful voices of the Nuns Chorus with Lara Small as the Mother Abbess who managed to move the audience to tears.

“Jess Scott-Walby and Tiffany Hannam-Daniels brought light-hearted humour with their portrayals of Max and Elsa.

“Emily Tidbury and Rachel Lines gave exceptional performances as Maria and Captain Von Trapp with younger girls – who could easily hold their own on a West End stage – providing a loveable and convincing family of children.”

The show was produced by Mr Hill and Elaine Williams of the school’s Music Department. “It was great to see our young performers getting so involved in the show and clearly enjoying the experience,” said Mr Hill.
