On Tuesday 21st October Talbot Heath was the venue for the annual Dorset Geographical Association Worldwise Quiz. Teams of three GCSE Geographers from six schools across Dorset and Wiltshire competed to win the coveted Worldwise Shield and individual trophies. There were eight rounds of questions, ranging from guess the picture rounds to Ordnance Survey map questions and general geographical knowledge ‘mixed bag’ rounds. Mrs Newenham was a superb compere and Mr Gibson had organised the rounds, with some help from the GA. We were also fortunate to have six undergraduates from Bournemouth University to help with the marking and scoring during the evening.
During the interval we were treated to a fun quiz about Hong Kong by ambassadors from Talbot Heath and Bryanston.
It was a tense moment as the score were revealed at the end of the two hour event. For the second year running, Bryanston had won with South Wilts as runner ups. It was a delightful evening with students enjoying the challenge of the questions and a chance to show their impressive geographical skills. We also managed to raise £120 for our link school in Rwanda, so it was a worthy and worldly event!
