Huge congratulations to everybody who took up the challenge and entered this year’s annual Christmas Cake Decorating Competition. Somehow the girls of Talbot Heath seem to have the ability to exceed all expectations year upon year, and I think everyone will agree that the entries this time were just astounding. The wonderful display of colourful, imaginative cakes was the talk of the school and the excitement was palpable, as the girls speculated about potential winners.
As always, the judges had an extremely difficult task on their hands, with everything from a solid chocolate Santa sleigh, to an ice rink especially for penguins! After much deliberation, the decision was made to award nine prizes this year, under the categories of Skill, Creativity and Best Christmas Theme. First place in the Creativity category, and the overall winner of the coveted ‘Talbot Heath Golden Chef Award’, was achieved by Charlotte Wittram and Eleanor Seery for their wonderfully unique ‘Stars of L4’ cake, featuring fondant stars naming every girl in their year group, and having been shared amongst them all after the judging had taken place. Top prize in the Skill category was awarded to a lovely last minute, but most welcome, entry from Jess Bialan and Esther Skeen in the U6, and the Best Christmas Theme cake was Olivia Perera’s Santa Snoozing in Bed on the 24th December, ready for the big day ahead! Very well done and thank you to everyone who took part, and we look forward to more exciting entries next year!
