Lower 4 Pupil Films with the BBC

A school is not usually pleased to hear that one of their pupils is in Casualty – except when it is the acclaimed BBC television hospital drama. Lower 4 pupil Madeline McKinnon-Wardell has been filming at the BBC studios in Cardiff recently after securing the part at Christmas. She said it was an exciting experience to film on location and in the studio, and to witness life behind the scenes as well as meeting the familiar faces from our television screens in person. The 13-year-old said it was ‘an unforgettable experience. Everybody was welcoming and happy to chat and offer advice. I even had my own dressing room with my name on the door.’

Madeline recently performed in the school production ‘A Night in the Footlights’ and won the Best Clown award as part of the Upper 3 annual drama festival. Having attended theatre school since she was 4 years old Madeline already holds an impressive CV; she has performed many times at the Bournemouth Pavillion, and played the young Cossette in the Les Miserables 25th Anniversary tour at Southampton's Mayflower Theatre when she was eight. The school would like to wish her the very best of luck with her performing, and look forward to seeing her appear in Casualty in June.
