March 10th 2015
On Sunday 8th March we were pleased to welcome a group of twenty-four visitors, including a lady who was 102 years of age, for the annual Contact the Elderly Tea Party in the Boarding House. Contact the Elderly is a national charity that organises monthly Sunday Tea Parties for people aged 75 and over who live alone. Many students volunteered to help serve the refreshments and chat with the guests. Volunteers from Upper 3 to Lower 6 provided an outstanding informal programme of entertainment to include piano, guitar, violin and singing. The performers were Darcey Lees, Serena Chanoch, Evie Holloway, Lucy Baldina, Megan Griffiths and Sophie Kwon and all were a real credit to the school. The concert concluded with an impromptu sing-a-long to ‘You are my sunshine’ and all the guests commented that it had been a wonderful afternoon. Thanks go to the girls who generously gave their time.
