The spray tan, sequins and the all-important glitter ball were on display for Talbot Heath’s first ever production of 'Strict Teachers Come Dancing'. Girls from across the year groups gathered in anticipation at lunchtime on Red Nose Day to watch the teachers doing something funny for money, and they were not disappointed…
Judging the couples were Craig Revel Horwood aka Mr Craddick, Len Goodman aka Mrs Stone, Darcy Bussell aka Mrs Holloway and Bruno Tonioli aka Mr Reidy. First to hit the dance floor were Mrs McDonald and Mr Maule with their funky jive which offered energy and style to a mash up 1950’s hit ‘Let’s Go To The Hop’ by Danny and the Juniors with Mark Ronson’s ‘Uptown Funk’.
Hot on their heels were the inspired English department duo – Mr Butcher and Mrs Boyington – who performed an emotional and dramatic foxtrot to Kate Bush’s classic ‘Wuthering Heights.’
Dr Orchard and Mrs Molyneux chose Olly Murs’ ‘Dance with me Tonight’ for their expertly performed Latin LeRoc number. Their dynamic routine, complete with a lift, earned them the coveted TH glitter ball trophy.
To end the show Miss Hooton and seven of the female staff members donned boots and cowgirl hats to perform an entertaining group dance to Billy Ray Cyrus’ ‘Achy Breaky Heart. Thanks go to the Upper 5 for organising the event, especially Jess Moore and Katie Badawy who compèred, and Darcie Kermode who took charge of music.
Finally and most importantly to note is the money raised during the day – as always the TH girls did a tremendous job. The junior girls raised £270.66 for mufti and the senior girls raised £567.73, which included mufti, cake sales and tickets for the dancing. The final total was a staggering £838.39! Thank you for a terrific total and terrific day.
