Upper 3 pupils and staff had the unique opportunity of visiting the Globe Theatre last Thursday. On arrival we were given a tour of the theatre where we were lucky to be able to watch a small group of actors rehearsing for the play, 'As You Like It'. They were choreographing their performance of the song, 'Hey Nonny Nonny'. The actors were rigorous in their approach, refining and perfecting each line alongside each movement and gesture. It allowed pupils an insight into the kind of work professional actors do.
Following this we attended a workshop which focused on an introduction to 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' which complimented work pupils had undertaken in class. Girls were asked to take part in drama activities which allowed them to express themselves fully whilst gaining a new understanding of the play and characters. We were all impressed by the high standard of work shown by all the girls during the workshop.
Unfortunately, the weather was horrendous all day, but spirits were not dampened and the early part of the afternoon was spent exploring the Globe Exhibition rooms and watching a demonstration of sword-fighting.
Pupils returned home exhausted after an unexpectedly long journey, but a good day was had by all.
