Summer Sporting Achievements 2015

Sports Awards

There are many sporting successes to celebrate at the moment thanks to the girls’ and staff’s sporting commitment. Congratulations to all of our competitors.

At the Swimming Gala last weekend, held at the Littledown Centre, the Year 5 team achieved a superb second in the Free Style relay and the Year 6 team won the Free Style and Medley relay in the County Championships.

Sailing in the Dorset School Games was held at Poole Park. In the Challenge Fleet (pairs event) Grace Gedge and Olivia Perera won the first race and came second overall; Emma Challen and Ellie Johnstone came third overall; Evie Corn and Charlotte Glen came seventh and eighth in their races and Charlotte Gordon came second in the individual category.

The Junior School sailing team, consisting of Molly Taylor and Emily Sherwin, achieved a silver in the B final. In the Gold Fleet (individual event) five girls took part in the morning qualifying race to decide which final they would be in. Ella Williams Gardner and Amy Cooke qualified for the third final (coming third and sixth), Harriet Jessup qualified for the second final (coming third) and Eden Luke and Charlotte Gordon qualified for the Grand Final. Eden came fifth and Charlotte came second (out of twelve boats). Once the scores were added up Talbot Heath was declared second overall in the county for sailing. Well done!

Bryanston was the venue for the rounders tournament where the Upper 4 rounders teams beat BSG in the semi-final and QE in the final. They are now County Champions!

Show jumping was also held at Bryanston where Becky Rowney, Emily Davies and Emily Plumb all took part.

A fantastic day was had by those who participated in the rowing championships. In rowing individual golds went to Amy Chanoch and Charlotte Wittram and bronze to Francesca Rowley. The Upper 3 and Lower 4 rowing teams also stormed to victory in the relay race! A great team performance. Unfortunately the Upper 4 rowing team pulled out at the very last minute with absences and illness so they could not do the relay. Leni Battistotti- Moore achieved 5th in the individual.

We would also like to congratulate Becky Rowney in Upper 3 for qualifying for the area dressage team.

A number of girls were also selected to represent Bournemouth in the Dorset County Athletics Championships recently. Kate Jarvis was 7th in the Rounders Ball throw and Grace Williams finished 2nd in her heat of the 150 metres, narrowly missing the final.

The relay team (above) consisting of Neda Kolahy, Grace Williams, Katy Jarvis and Katie Hales, won by quite a large margin and were therefore crowned Dorset County Championship winners! Congratulations to all of the athletes; a great end to the Athletics season.
