Talbot Heath

European Day of Languages

Although the official Global Awareness Week falls in the spring, Talbot Heath has made global awareness an integral aspect of the school curriculum; this week has been a celebration of all things not only European - with European Languages Day - but also worldwide, with Peace One Day.

To celebrate European day of languages, the Talbot Heath girls put on two cultural assemblies in both the Junior and Senior schools followed by a 'délicieux' French breakfast. After an inspiring talk by the Head Girl stressing that there are almost 700 languages spoken in the world and emphasising the importance of learning a second language, members of the sixth form performed songs and dances from France, Spain and Italy to represent the languages taught at the school. Throughout the day pupils and staff greeted each other with 'Hello' in 43 different languages. Freshly baked croissants, pain chocolat, chocolat chaud and cafe were on offer during the French breakfasts, with all donations going to the Red Cross Refugee Crisis support.

Team TH gathered together for a photograph in the sixth form quad earlier this week to acknowledge Peace One Day on September 21st. They are all running distances during the weekend of the Bournemouth Marathon Festival to support Talbot Heath's initiative to raise money for College Saint Emmanuel in Rwanda.

Thanks go to all of the girls and staff, particularly the MFL department, who organised and supported these events.
