Lara Wins Girl Talk Competition

Talbot Heath junior pupil, Lara Burd, has won the Editor Challenge - Girl Talk magazine competition. The ten-year-old entered a competition, organised and judged by the National Literacy Trust, to produce a magazine in the style of Girl Talk. She completed the winning entry in the after school magazine club run by the Junior Deputy Head, Mrs Rook. The editor of Girl Talk contacted Lara with her positive judgment saying, ‘Lara – We loved your Girl Talk magazine! The cover grabbed our attention straight away, with great cover-lines, a brilliant photo of Zoella and cool gifts that were just like the real thing! The features inside were also really well thought out and presented. Your Celebrity Feature was the best that we read, and your use of funny pictures and speech bubbles showed that have an eye for detail. You also wrote our favourite reviews, which used a personal tone of voice and included your recommendation, just like we do in Girl Talk! Overall, your magazine was the best that we saw, so well done for all your hard work and creativity!”

For her prize, Lara is the lucky recipient of a special tour of Intermediate Media’s head office, where she will meet the Girl Talk and Mega teams and learn more about how their magazines are put together.

Congratulations go to Lara for her exciting win.
