Talbot Heath

Dining with Dinosaurs

Mrs Chapleo and Mrs Atkins attended the Geographical Association Annual Conference held at Manchester University (7-10th April) to collect the SGQM (Secondary Geography Quality Mark) and Centre of Excellence awards for Talbot Heath's Geography Department.

Prior to the awards ceremony, where Mrs Chapleo collected the certificate on behalf of Talbot Heath, John Raine OBE gave a talk about tackling Ebola in Sierra Leone. His lecture was titled the "Bumpy road to zero" and was a truly fascinating account of how he worked on the frontline, as head of the U.K. Joint Inter-Agency Task Force coordinating efforts to bring the epidemic under control.

A wine reception and formal dinner were held afterwards in the Fossil Gallery of Manchester Museum allowing the Geographers to dine with dinosaurs! The conference was a wonderful opportunity to meet like-minded professionals, share good practice, as well as dine with T- Rex and the Geography team have returned with lots of great ideas to enhance the experience of the students at Talbot Heath.
