At the start of May crime writer Kate Rhodes led a day of writing workshops for the Upper 4 English classes where they were invited to write a short story or opening for a piece of crime fiction. A competition was run by the English department based on their creative writing; the entries were judged and the prizewinners from each form group can now be announced...
The standard of writing was very high and the girls should be congratulated for their imaginative ideas and skilled use of language. The prizewinners will receive a Waterstones voucher and certificate for their efforts, and one overall winner will also receive a signed copy of Kate Rhodes’ poetry. The winners are as follows:
Highly Commended: Eleanor Seery, Charlotte Wittram, Lillie Henning, Hannah Peasland, Serena Sutherland, Eloise Stanborough, Faith Bellamy, Emmie Couzens and Emily Toms.
Second prizes: Rosie Guyer, Maddie Mckinnon-Wardell and Katie Gaskin.
First prizes: Pia Jaspersen, Alice Reeves and Yana Judson.
Overall winner: Alice Reeves
Congratulations to all of the girls for their efforts.
