Year 6's LUSH Visit

School Trip

On Thursday 19th January, Year 6 had the most exciting morning surrounded by clouds of perfumed, soapy air as they visited the Lush factories in Poole. The girls learned about the origins of the company, starting as a very small business; keeping to its ethical roots of no products being tested on animals; all packaging being 100% recyclable and high quality cosmetic products. Its name has gone global with Lush factories operating all over the world.

The girls spent a fantastic morning touring the buildings, witnessing at first-hand how soap is made, watching the cosmetic craftsmen and women creating their bubble bars and bath bombs, and then had the chance to go into production themselves! The photos show the girls making 'Think Pink' and 'Frozen' bath bombs in the Lush kitchen: it was brilliant fun. After production, the girls were in for a final treat, having given a donation to a children's charity, they were set free in the product room to choose numerous items from Lush to take home with them - the minibuses were full of glitter by the time everyone returned to school! It really was a wonderful opportunity for the girls in Year 6, not simply to have great fun, but to learn about business, ethical trading and future careers. The Junior School is very grateful to the Muller family for organising and setting up this trip.
