Talbot Heath

Classics Society Dinner

The Talbot Heath Classics Society ‘Calliope’ (named after the Greek Muse of heroic poetry) held its first event this November; a dinner with authentic Roman dishes and Classics themed games. The taste of Ancient Rome really did come to TH: there was a tasty chicken dish (Parthian Chicken), traditional biscuits for soldiers and a delicious honeyed cheesecake. It was lovely to try all the dishes in the company of friends old and new, across all age groups. The most fun part was playing Pictionary, with the aim of sculpting a well-known Classical character out of Play-Doh: things became competitive quickly, but it was amusing to see the various attempts at sculpting! Overall, it was a very enjoyable evening, and members look forward to the next Classics Society event in February.

The Classics department also held an information evening this week about the forthcoming Classics Tour of Greece in March 2018. Over 30 girls have signed up for the tour. Thanks go to Miss Symons for organising all of these exciting Classics events.
