Talbot Heath school Arts faculty were very pleased to offer a puppet making workshop last weekend. It was a fantastic opportunity for girls to learn the basics of character creation and fabrication skills, which enabled the pupils to explore, design and create a wonderfully unique Muppet style puppet. The array of designs was inspirational with girls creating bears, dogs, people and crocodiles, all with amazing backstories and characters.
The workshop was run by two professional model makers: Sophie Perkins (former TH pupil) and David Lund; both of whom have worked on designer window displays, architecture models and in television. It offered a day of fun creativity and gave the young apprentices an insight into the industry also. Enormous thanks go to Sophie and David, for their knowledge and support and making this course possible. Thanks also go to Miss Coates for organising this popular workshop; the arts team are looking forward to more puppet and creative projects in the future.
