Parent Staff Society

Parent Staff Society

Our Parent Staff Society has been established for many years and with the help of parents and staff alike, it aims to bring together the whole school community and strengthen the links with home.

We achieve this in many ways:-
• We are a registered charity and as such we organise fund raising events to enable all the departments of the school to benefit from additional funds for all those ‘extras’ which will enrich the school life of the girls. Over the past 5 years we have donated in excess of £42,000 for various projects which have been of benefit to all.

Most significantly we have contributed £20,000 towards the cost of the new sports pavilion and are also looking at further funding for gymnasium equipment on top of the three rowing machines we have already purchased. The rowing teams have already had great results in recent competitions at all levels.

Recent fundraising activities have included an Easter Basket Raffle which raised over £1,500 and a Christmas Fair which raised a further £1,700 in addition to the money raised, many families were able to take part and make the most of the opportunity to have fun and socialise.

• The parents on the Parent Staff Society Committee represent their Year Groups and this provides an invaluable two way communication channel for parents to enable discussion and feedback about various school matters.

• The Society runs a ‘Nearly New’ uniform shop to provide cost effective recycling of outgrown but still serviceable items of uniform. The shop is usually open on the first Thursday in the month from 2.45 to 4.15 (term-time only). If you have any queries then please email Kerry-Anne Henning at clothingshop@talbotheath.org.

• We also aim to organise social events, both within Year Groups so parents can meet each other informally, but also events which involve all the parents such as weekend walks and our very popular biannual Summer Ball.

We are a friendly Society, always keen to involve as many parents as possible in supporting our aims.
