The Swimming Academy, joined by coach Mr Neilson and teacher Mrs Newcombe, enjoyed their first outing and headed across to Millfield School for the Regional Qualifying Round of the ESSA Senior School Relays.
School teams were entered from the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Categories competing in the 4 x 50m Freestyle and 4 x 50m Medley Relays.
On the Junior 4 x 50m Free Team were: Lilly B, Theia B, Daria K and Florence C and on the Junior 4 x 50m Medley team were: Daria K, Victoria H, Lilly B and Theia B earn double fourths. The Intermediate 4 x 50m Free and 4 x 50m Medley team consisting of Erin M, Scarlett C, Bertie B and Halle R replicated the juniors and earned double 4th place. A Senior Girls team of Katherine C, Pearl L, Erin W and Polly G earned 20th in the 4 x 50m Free relay and stepped up to 18th in the 4 x 50m Medley Relay – all swimming personal best splits. The results were particularly impressive as many swimmers in the teams found themselves in the lower section of the age brackets.
We now wait for the full set of results from across England to see which teams will make the top 30 and qualify for the National Finals held at the iconic Sandwell Aquatics park in Birmingham used for the Commonwealth Games in 2022.
