Skills For Life – L6 Taught Self-Defence Skills for Women

Lower 6 had a fun and informative session this week, being taught self-defence skills for women.  Thanks to expert instructors,  Shaun and Vicky, from INNER Strength Martial Arts Academy (ISMAA), the girls were taught vital self-defence skills which included practical techniques with hand-to-hand combat. They learnt and practised life saving techniques with one another in a safe and controlled manner. They all found the session both enjoyable and practical; most importantly it provided them with the confidence to deal with potential difficult situations.
Head of Sixth Form Anne Klemz, has booked these session regularly for the students at Talbot Heath. She said in a recent interview with the Bournemouth Echo: ‘The feedback I have received from both parents and sixth formers has been extremely positive, with girls feeling more empowered to deal with unexpected or unwanted situations where they may need to look after their own safety, as they prepare to leave for university.

‘As far as Talbot Heath are concerned, these self defence skills are essential and I have not hesitated to book Shaun and Vicky again for the next academic year.”

Thanks go to Madame Klemz for organising, and to Mrs Barham for her support.
