Y5 Arden Makes International Debut with Double Bronze for Great Britain

Talbot Heath School is celebrating a remarkable sporting achievement after pupil Arden returned from Madeira with two international team bronze medals, having represented Great Britain at the 2026 UIPM Biathle-Triathle-Laser Run World Championships.

Competing in the Under-11 category, Arden made her international debut across all three disciplines: Biathle, Triathle and Laser Run, rising to the challenge on the world stage during the half-term break.

The championships brought together approximately 1,400 athletes from more than 50 nations in the beautiful Atlantic setting of Funchal, Madeira, for a week of competition celebrating the breadth and diversity of international multisport. International competitors ranged from Under-9 athletes to Masters in their seventies, with events combining individual racing, mixed relays and team competition.

The three disciplines offer a unique test of athletic versatility. Biathle combines running and open-water swimming, while Triathle adds precision laser shooting to swimming and running. Laser Run brings together running and laser shooting, demanding both physical endurance and composure under pressure.

Two podium finishes for Team GB

Arden’s first experience of international championship racing proved an outstanding success, securing bronze medals in both Triathle and Laser Run for Team GB.

Achieving two international podium finishes at her first championship is a fantastic accomplishment and a testament to Arden’s commitment, determination, and willingness to embrace new challenges.

Arden’s ability to apply herself across different sporting environments, balancing academics and representing her team with honour and humility, reflects the qualities of a developing athlete and the values of the Talbot Heath Swimming Academy

Everyone at Talbot Heath is immensely proud of Arden’s achievement. Her international debut is a milestone to celebrate and a platform to build on as she continues towards mastery across a range of sports; we look forward to nurturing her potential and development.

Congratulations, Arden, on a memorable championship and a fantastic achievement for Pentathlon GB.
