Last week, the Lower 4 pupils were treated to a brilliant workshop, led by the accomplished actor, Jim Parkes from The Globe Theatre in London. Known for his work with the National Youth Theatre and having many theatre credits under his belt, Jim lifted the girls’ play of study, ‘A Midsummer’s Night Dream’, off the page.
The workshop began with an insight into the workings and history of the Globe Theatre, followed by an engaging drama-based session giving particular focus to the hapless and love-sick character of Helena. Under Jim’s direction, pupils were able to give Helena strength and agency, using voice and movement to empower her character. All of the girls were thoroughly engaged with the workshops and they displayed confidence, comedy and insight through their performances; well done Lower 4!
