As part of our Academic Excellence Programme at Talbot Heath, Dr Phillips delivered a thought-provoking and engaging session on careers in medicine. Through an interactive question-and-answer format, she encouraged students to explore current healthcare issues, including topics featured in the news and discussions surrounding the future of healthcare.
The session challenged students to consider the qualities required to succeed in the medical profession, as well as the rewards and challenges of working within the NHS. Dr Phillips also introduced students to the types of ethical and practical questions often discussed during medical school interviews, encouraging them to think critically about real-life scenarios and the responsibilities associated with a career in medicine.
Students thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the profession and left with a greater understanding of the pathways into medicine and the skills needed to thrive in this highly rewarding field.
