Lizzie completed the 750 metre swim and 5km run, in a winning 28 minutes and 51 seconds, maintaining a clear lead over second-placed Kate Waugh.
Lizzie said: “It’s unbelievable – I’ve had a hard few years and have worked really hard to get this one result. With this, I’ve now got the confidence to go on for the rest of the season. I can’t believe I finished ahead of Kate as she’s a phenomenal runner. She’s one of the biggest talents I have ever come across; a great racer and a great athlete.” Congratulations to Lizzie for this well-deserved achievement.
