Visitors from over 35 different schools were welcomed through the doors of the Senior and Junior schools during the Talbot Heath Open Evening. An array of activities and presentations had been organised to involve, inspire and even educate both parents and their daughters for the afternoon and evening. Alongside tours of the Second World War bunker and music suites, were sports demonstrations and science experiments, as well as cake decorating in the Technology Centre and Roman food tasting in the Classics department. The Head gave two presentations during the evening that focused on the buildings refurbishment and curriculum initiatives within the school, and celebrated the excellent examination results which make Talbot Heath the top performing girls’ school in Bournemouth once again.
The Sixth Form opening evening took place the following week, where the current Upper 5 pupils and outside visitors were invited to spend time with staff to discuss AS and A-Level options and learn about life in the Sixth Form at TH. It was clear that many visitors from other schools were opting into Talbot Heath’s reputation for securing university places (many of them Russell Group) for its students. The school is also proud of its excellent advice and careers guidance tailored to the girls’ individual needs. As well as the excellent A-Level results the school are a centre of excellence for the Extended Project Qualification. Talbot Heath is proud of its place in the top ten nationally for outstanding EPQ results; this summer the students achieved 100% A or A* for their essays.
Thanks go to the staff for their inexhaustible enthusiasm and commitment to the school and especially to the girls who volunteered to make the open evenings such a success and who are always wonderful ambassadors.
