Our Junior Department, catering for girls in Years 3 – 6, is based in its own buildings with a hall, library, two studios, a dining room and two computer suites. Classes are an optimum size of 20, meaning every girl benefits from careful support where she really can work at the best rate for her to achieve her full potential. Year 3 is a transition year, enabling the girls to move smoothly from Pre-Prep to the Juniors, increasing their levels of independence throughout the year. All pupils are taught for Music and Sport by qualified specialists using senior facilities. By the time they are in Year 4 we introduce academic subject specialists and whilst they still have their form teacher for a considerable part of their day they begin to have different teachers for different subjects, helping them make the transition between Junior and Senior very smoothly.
As our girls move through the Junior School they are encouraged to develop their independence and take on more responsibilities either within their classroom or on behalf of the Junior school as a whole.
The ethos continues to be one of community and collaboration where good manners, thoughtfulness and respect for every member of the school community is encouraged and fostered in all that we do. We pride ourselves on the fact that they leave us as happy and confident young girls ready for the challenges of the next stage of their education.
