Two Talbot Heath students have enjoyed an exceptional summer of sporting success after being selected to compete at the prestigious School Games, one of the UK’s most elite sporting events for young athletes.
Selection for the School Games is highly competitive, with athletes chosen through a rigorous process designed to identify the very best young sporting talent in the country. Remarkably, Talbot Heath had two students selected to compete, an achievement that demonstrates the outstanding calibre of athletes developing at the school.
Ella Excels in Athletics
Ella was selected as the shot put representative for the Southern Scorpions team at the School Games, held at Loughborough University over three days. Competing against the nation’s top young athletes, Ella delivered an outstanding performance, securing third place with a personal best throw of 12.96 metres. Her contribution helped the Southern Scorpions team achieve an impressive second-place overall finish.
Following her success at the School Games, Ella travelled to Liverpool to compete in the Youth Talent Programme (YTP) Premier League National Final. Continuing her superb form, she secured two gold medals, helping her club, Blackheath & Bromley, retain the national championship title for another year.
Ella rounded off her athletics season in style by achieving another personal best, throwing 38.76 metres in the discus, a fitting end to a remarkable summer of competition.
Her sporting talents extend beyond athletics. Ella has recently been talent identified for South West Rugby and has already taken part in a regional training camp. She is looking forward to further opportunities and competition in the coming season.
Triple Gold for Jemima
Joining Ella at the School Games was Jemima, who competed in the Under-17 Modern Pentathlon event. Accompanied by her father, who served as a team manager, Jemima enjoyed an unforgettable competition.

The achievements of both Ella and Jemima reflect the strength of Talbot Heath’s sporting programme and the dedication, resilience and ambition shown by its students.
