Talbot Heath Swimming Academy swimmers made an excellent start to the season at the ESSA Regional Relays at Millfield School, producing a series of impressive performances and putting several teams in contention for qualification to the National Championships.
Competing across the Junior, Intermediate and Senior age groups, our swimmers not only demonstrated impressive early-season speed but also embodied the teamwork, resilience and determination that are central to our Academy values.
The Junior team of Jessie, Charlotte, Lily and Siena delivered a fantastic performance, significantly improving on their entry times in both the Freestyle and Medley Relays. Every swimmer raced faster than their personal-best pace, showing remarkable commitment to the team and setting an exciting tone for the season ahead.
Our Intermediate swimmers, Caidee, Florence, Mollie and Romilly, also enjoyed a highly successful day. The team finished an impressive fourth in the 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay and sixth in the Medley Relay, improving on their entry times in both events. Their performances are expected to place them firmly in the mix for National Championship qualification, pending final rankings.
One of the most memorable stories of the day came from the Senior team. After a frustrating disqualification in the Freestyle Relay, the swimmers showed tremendous character to regroup and come back stronger. Their response was outstanding, claiming third place in the 4 x 50m Medley Relay and breaking the Talbot Heath school record by three seconds. It was a performance that showcased not only talent, but also resilience, leadership and team spirit.

With National Finals qualification now eagerly anticipated and the ESSA Super League on the horizon, this was a hugely encouraging first outing of the season. Congratulations to all our swimmers on a fantastic start, both in the pool and in the way they represented Talbot Heath School.
