Championing Women in Business Conference

The Talbot Heath community was delighted to welcome 60 businesswomen to the STEAM Hub last week, with Tobias Ellwood MP, the Mayor Councillor Anne Filer and Leader of the BCP Council, Vikki Slade. Organised on behalf of the House of Lords, Savvitas and MPHeroes, the event aimed to gather ideas for a White Paper on Women in Business. The emphasis was on how digital and ESG [using Environmental, Social and Governance factors to assess the sustainability of companies and countries] is impacting women and opening new opportunities.

Lower Sixth students were given the exciting opportunity to interview these successful women in an ‘ask me anything’ session and were fortunate to join in the high level roundtable discussions in the morning. The discussion generated a range of ‘top tips’ for the future entrepreneurs, as well as discussions about achieving success in business and overcoming barriers female businesswomen faced.

Mrs Harris said she was proud to have hosted this prestigious event for local businesswomen, adding, ‘Focusing on the skills and attributes of successful female leaders is a unique feature of education at an all-girls school. Girls can explore, create, think and grow in confidence so that when they leave us aged 18 they do so ready to embrace the opportunities of the future.’
