THe Great Talbot Heath Camp Out: A Magical Night on Boarders’ Green

Seventeen excited students from Upper 3 and Upper 4 made history on Friday 27th June as they took part in the very first THe Great Talbot Heath camp out on Boarders’ Green.

Accompanied by staff Mrs Smith, Mrs Diment, Mrs Adams and Mr Wilson, and parent helper Mr Sarde the group set up their tents and embraced the spirit of outdoor adventure. As the sun began to set, everyone gathered around the campfire to cook and eat a classic campfire supper: jacket potatoes served with a choice of beans, cheese, and tuna. The meal was followed by a special treat—gooey s’mores toasted over the flames.

Later in the evening, the group ventured out on a night walk around the grounds, including the Forest School site. In the quiet of the twilight, they heard the gentle hoots of owls and caught glimpses of bats darting through the trees—a magical experience for all.

Back at camp, mugs of steaming hot chocolate were passed around the fire as everyone settled in for a peaceful (ish) night under canvas. However we were woken by the bin lorry at 4.14am!

The next morning, students were treated to warm bacon and sausage rolls before packing up camp and being collected by their parents. Spirits were high, and stories from the night before were already being retold with excitement.

The first THe Great Talbot Heath camp out was a wonderful success—an unforgettable evening of fun, friendship, and the great outdoors.

Thank you to the staff who gave up their time [and sleep] to make this a success.
