For families taking their very first steps into the world of school open days, the idea can feel a little daunting. Where do you start? What should you expect? At Talbot Heath, our Nursery to Year 6 Working Open Mornings are designed to be the very opposite of intimidating – they are warm, welcoming and genuinely exciting, offering a reassuring glimpse into the first chapters of your daughter’s educational journey.
From the moment you arrive, you will be greeted by Rona Campbell-McLean, our friendly Head of Admissions, who will help you feel instantly at ease. The morning begins with a short, informal talk from Jo Brown, our Junior School Headteacher, who will share what makes Talbot Heath School such a special place to learn and grow. Key members of staff, including Sarah Breeze, Deputy Headteacher and Head of EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage), will be on hand throughout the event, ready to answer questions and offer insight, particularly for families exploring early years education for the first time.

One of the highlights of the morning is our pupil-led tours. In pairs, our wonderful Year 6 volunteers – confident, kind and brilliant ambassadors for the school – will guide your family around our excellent facilities. You will see the classrooms where your daughter could learn, the spaces where she will play and explore, and experience the school ‘in action’, with happy little learners going about their day in a calm, nurturing environment.
The tour concludes in the Jubilee Hall for refreshments and relaxed conversations with staff relevant to your daughter’s age and stage. Before you leave, Rona will be available to talk through the admissions process, including any early year’s funding questions.
Places on our Working Open Mornings are limited, as these events are intentionally designed for small numbers ensuring each family receives individual attention and time to ask questions. We encourage early booking to avoid disappointment.
