Interim Head from January 2026 – Ms Anna Talbot

Anna Karanja

We are delighted to welcome Ms Anna Talbot as Interim Headteacher of Talbot Heath School from January 2026. An Oxford graduate with a BA and MA in Classics and Modern Languages from Keble College, Anna brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to holistic education. With 14 years of senior leadership experience across two schools, she has consistently demonstrated strategic vision and a passion for student development. At Talbot Heath, she has already made a significant impact as Deputy Head Pastoral and Designated Safeguarding Lead, enhancing pastoral care and safeguarding provision, including the development of the Oasis Wellbeing Room.

Throughout her career, Anna has placed students at the heart of everything she does. She is dedicated to raising aspirations and helping students achieve their full potential, whether through academic mentoring, Oxbridge preparation, or the creation of mentoring schemes that foster strong peer support across key stages. Her leadership at Highcliffe School saw the Sixth Form grow from 150 to over 300 students, with notable improvements in achievement, attendance, and wellbeing. Anna’s work as EPQ Coordinator and Head of French and Classics has further demonstrated her commitment to nurturing curiosity, independence, and resilience in young learners.

Anna is a firm believer in providing a rounded educational experience. She has organised a wide range of extra-curricular trips and activities, and even coached a girls’ football team. Her own adventurous spirit—skydiving over the Namibian desert, white water rafting on the Zambezi, and scuba diving at the Great Barrier Reef—reflects the courage and determination she seeks to inspire in her students. Outside of school, she enjoys football, camping, and exploring the New Forest by bike or on foot. Anna is thrilled to be leading Talbot Heath at this critical time and looks forward to working closely with students, staff, and parents to continue building a nurturing and ambitious school community.
