Pupils from Reception to Year 2 enjoyed an interdisciplinary lesson in the Hub this week travelling, investigating and making…
Reception looked at how rockets travelled into space. They made rocket mice and tried to get their paper mouse into orbit using the thrust from a plastic bottle.
Year 1 tried to earn their fossil hunting badge; they worked in rotation around three different stations: brushing sand to carefully excavate a skeleton; making salt dough to form an impression of a fossil in a rock, and chipping a dinosaur fossil out of a rock using a mini mallet and chisel.
Year 2 investigated bows and arrows and how energy is stored to release the arrows. They saw how wood was formed to create the bows and then made mini targets. They finished their session with an archery competition!
Thanks go to Andy Morris and the design department for another exciting and informative interdisciplinary session.
