South West Junior Chef of the Year – Dorset Finals
Congratulations go to Aggie M and Alice T who were selected to compete in the Dorset finals of the
year’s South West Junior Chef of the Year. Competitors were asked to create a main course recipe
using ingredients that were grown, reared or produced locally, with judges looking at the creativity,
balance of ingredients and skills required to create the dish when selecting their finalists. Aggie
served up Dorset crab, buckthorn and carrot roll and parmentier potatoes and Alice presented
glazed black bream with verjuice sauce and crunchy grapes.

The county final was held at Weymouth College on Thursday 3rd July, and judged by Ben Champkin,
Chef Patron, Catch At The Old Fish Market, Weymouth and Alan Kelly, Chef Lecturer at the College.
The judges declared it the closest fort competition in several years, both Aggie and Alice excelled,
but were just pipped to the post for a place in the overall final.
