Lower 5 Citizenship Day

Citizenship Day, designed specifically for Year 10 students, offered an engaging and educational experience that combined drama-based activities with core elements of the citizenship curriculum. Through interactive role-plays and creative group work, students explored fundamental British values such as democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance.
A key focus of the day was understanding how laws are made in the UK, with students taking part in simulations that mirrored the legislative process (from proposing a bill to debating and voting in a mock parliament). In addition, students examined the importance of human rights, delving into real-life scenarios that highlighted the relevance of these rights in everyday situations. The day also provided a platform for students to voice and reflect on issues that mattered personally to them, fostering empathy, critical thinking, and a deeper sense of civic responsibility.
Thank you to Mrs Manley for organising such an important workshop for the girls.
