Safeguarding

Safeguarding is given the highest priority at Talbot Heath and is designed to protect our whole school community from harm and promote our pupils’ overall wellbeing.

We recognise the responsibility everyone within the school has to play in creating a safe, nurturing environment where our pupils thrive. Safeguarding is rooted in providing this safe environment and we actively encourage a culture where children feel safe, respected and empowered to speak up.

At Talbot Heath, we have encompassed a range of measures, from preventative education and early intervention to robust procedures when responding to and reporting safeguarding concerns.

When necessary we will collaborate with external agencies to ensure a coordinated response to any safeguarding concern.

Volunteers and visitors to the school are introduced to the school policies and procedures for Child protection and Safeguarding.

We use the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) to undertake criminal record checks for staff, Governors and volunteers associated with the school. All newly appointed staff will have obtained an enhanced criminal record check.

School Policies

The school policies cover a wide range of areas to ensure a safe, effective and inclusive environment. The Safeguarding Policy is reviewed and updated annually in line with the statutory guidance for schools and colleges in England (KCSIE) The policies address teaching and learning, student welfare, school management and staff matters. These policies align within legal frameworks and statutory requirements.

Talbot Heath follows the procedures of the Bournemouth and Poole Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB).

Operation Encompass

Our school is part of Operation Encompass. This is a police and education early intervention safeguarding partnership which supports children and young people who experience Domestic Abuse. Click below for more details.
