Talbot Heath Sixth Form Students

Welcome from the head of 6th form

Joining us now is particularly exciting. In the 2024-25 academic year, we are implementing several significant enhancements to our Sixth Form:

Tracy Harris

  • Implementation of Community Action Work placements every Wednesday afternoon, offering students invaluable hands-on work experience.
  • Introduction of Sociology A Level alongside our existing repertoire of 19 A Level subjects.
  • Introduction of the Level 3 Community Sports Leader award, providing an alternative or supplementary option to the Extended Project Qualification.
  • Elective opportunities featuring an array of inspiring and engaging experts and speakers as part of our enrichment programme.
We already boast a rich tradition of exceptional academic achievements, coupled with a profound commitment to nurturing confident, resilient, and determined young women who are prepared to navigate their paths in the world beyond Talbot Heath. Our graduates consistently embark on highly competitive university courses both in the UK and internationally, as well as coveted higher-level apprenticeships.

We appreciate your interest and encourage you to connect with us to start your Sixth Form journey at Talbot Heath School. Visit our Open Day page to arrange a tour or book on to our Open Day in October.

Talbot Heath Sixth Form Bournemouth has a long record of academic excellence and is a powerful launchpad to a successful future. Our 6th Form students gain places at the most prestigious universities in the country as a result of their impressive A Level grades. In 2023 52.2% of pupils achieved A*/A grades.

We offer excellent Sixth Form teaching in a dynamic and nurturing environment, which includes our newly completed Hub which has a ‘Uni’ feel with state of the art learning and breakout facilities.

We want each of our students to be the best that they can be and support them every step of the way throughout their studies, whilst actively encouraging them to ‘have a voice ‘and to show initiative.

Pupils benefit from being taught by highly qualified and experienced specialist teachers, whilst receiving an outstanding level of pastoral care. Students are divided into small tutor groups and are guided and supported throughout their studies, receiving expert advice and support on potential university courses and the UCAS application process. Our 6th Formers leave driven and knowledgeable, going on to enjoy successful and rewarding careers.

The 6th Form are an integral part of our community, being role models for the rest of the school and the 6th Form Committee offers the opportunity to be actively involved in the organisation of social events and to support both local and international charities. Pupils are also able to join in a full programme of enrichment through a variety of clubs.

In Upper 6th, pupils have the opportunity to join the Head Girl and Prefect Team, taking on significantly more responsibility by supporting staff in their duties, individual academic departments and the younger pupils in the school.

Our 6th Form offers a new start for everyone, whether you have been at Talbot Heath for several years or join for A Levels. All students receive a warm welcome and quickly settle into Talbot Heath 6th Form life.

Anne Klemz, Head of Sixth Form.
