Sports Aid Award to TH Triathlete

Sports Awards

National triathlete and Talbot Heath School pupil, Elisabeth Hood, has recently been awarded a Sports Aid award. Thanks to the funding from SSE the 17 year old has received a grant for £1000 to help with the cost of the sport this year as well as recognising Lizzie’s commitment and potential for the future. The Junior GB Triathlon team member has also been invited to be part of their SSE Next Generation programme which supports 100 young athletes across Britain; a four-year partnership with Sports Aid, dedicated to helping young athletes - aged from 13 to 25 – who are identified as potential Commonwealth Games and Olympic medallists of the future. The award follows a recent nomination by British Athletics and former recipients of the award include Sir Chris Hoy, Ellie Simmonds OBE, Jessica Ennis-Hill CBE, Tom Daley and Dame Sarah Storey, placing Lizzie as part of a very select group of British athletes. Lizzie is currently studying three A-Levels alongside a rigorous training schedule for the 750m swim, 20km cycle and 5km run, before and after school and at weekends. She said how surprised and pleased she was to receive the award, stating how excited she is to be following in the footsteps of other great athletes. Our congratulations go to Lizzie for this well-deserved award.
