Amnesty Christmas Concert Rocks

Rock 'n' roll replaced report reading at the end of term annual rock concert, which was in aid of Amnesty International. Head girls, Katie Badawy and Emily Saunders, hosted the line up consisting of pupils and staff to a sell out audience packed into the main hall.

It wouldn't be Christmas with out Mariah Carey's 'All I Want For Christmas' which opened the concert to accompany the sparkly staff dance troupe bedecked in glittery skirts. They were followed by Lauren Murray's beautiful solo of 'Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire' - bravely sang in the aftermath of a sore throat. Other dazzling performances were from Molly Taylor (singing Half The World Away); Katy Bates and ukulele (Aha's Take on Me); followed by Taya Minchington on guitar; also Lottie Wellbeloved (singing) and Katie McKenna (on piano). All fantastic performances.

The finale was performed by none other than the legendary staff band: The Talbot Heathens. Nine members were on stage including the Head Mrs Holloway and frontman Mr Butcher, alongside two new members: Junior Head teacher Sally Weber-Spokes on backing vocals and science teacher, Miss Jenner, on bass guitar. Their two numbers were Oasis' 'Wonderwall', followed by the perfect Christmas song to put everyone in the festive mood - Slades' 'Merry Christmas Everybody'!

Thanks go to all of the performers and the girls and staff who supported as a fantastic audience.
