Lower 6 were welcomed back to school this week after study leave and exams for the annual Sixth Form Symposium where they learnt about life after TH. During the three day course girls were offered invaluable information about the UCAS process and university life, as well as careers advice. Gail Alani, admissions tutor from Southampton University, provided excellent specialist guidance on how to write a personal statement through her insightful presentation.
Cooking skills were served by Mrs Moran alongside a booklet of delicious recipes where girls learnt to cook on a budget. During the first morning they produced a variety of delicious meals ranging from the faithful spaghetti Bolognese to curries and casseroles. Nurse Tan also offered nutrition for the mind in the form of discussions about Health and Well-Being; mindfulness and meditation being essential keys to manage stress. Dr Orchard gave specific guidance for students considering Oxbridge and Medicine as well as useful information for pupils’ EPQ projects.
Thanks go to all of the staff who helped to make this such a success, in particular Mrs Magrath, who organised the event.
